We commemorate the shoe that started it all - the Jordan 1’s
From its first initial debut on the hardwood floors in 1985, to its slew of colourways that have become the ‘bred’ and butter to many sneakerheads across the globe, there is nothing quite like a Jordan 1.
And with the NBA pre-season creeping around the corner, we thought we would commemorate this iconic silhouette by looking back at our top 10 Jordan 1s colourways that have transformed the sneaker game that we know and love today.
1. Air Jordan 1 High Chicago (1985)

With almost 4 decades of legendary status under its belt, the Air Jordan 1 High ‘Chicago’ has left an indelible mark on court history. From being featured on the feet of Michael Jordan during his rookie season at the Bulls to generating fanfare around the globe, the collector's dream pays homage to one of the basketball teams in the NBA - the ‘Chicago Bulls’.
2. Air Jordan 1 High ‘UNC’ (1985)

Stemming back to MJ’s college origins at Alma Mater in North Carolina, the Air Jordan 1 High ‘UNC’ was also one of the very first colourways to be dropped on our shelves back in 1985. Although it was never featured on the NBA courts, it stole the hearts of many through its refreshing blue and white colour-blocked design - one that continues to stand the test of time.
3. Air Jordan 1 High ‘Bred/Banned’ (1985)

Deciphering whether this Jordan 1 ‘Bred’ was banned from the NBA is like deciding which came first the chicken or egg? While the silhouette’s alleged misconduct for going against NBA regulations has never truly been confirmed, one thing that is certain is the fit’s unforgettable mark on sneaker culture.
38 years and 5 retro’s later, the fit continues to land in the laps of many sneaker connoisseurs across the globe.
4. Off-White x Air Jordan 1 'The Ten' (2017)

It was like one of those pinch-me moments when creative visionary Virgil Abloh got his hands on the Air Jordan 1. Forming as a beloved member of the Ten series which saw 10 of Nike’s most popular silhouettes being reconstructed courtesy of the American-born streetwear label Off-White.
As expected, the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 ‘The Ten’ took the sneaker world by storm, teaming inspiration from the ‘Chicago Bulls’ renowned red, white and black colourway.
5. Air Jordan 1 High ‘Georgetown’ (2022)

Inspired by an unreleased Jordan 1 prototype that Peter Moore first designed back in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 High ‘Georgetown’ nodded to the Georgetown Hoyas - the first-division collegiate basketball team. Although it took almost 40 years for this colourway to be officially released, it arrived in all its glory in a sleek navy and off-white palette, garnished with its OG winged branding, perforated toe and the fit’s signature midsole cushioning.
6. Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG (2019)

First sighted on the feet of La Flame during his 2019 Grammy performance, the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG was yet another heated release between the two creative powerhouses. This coveted release took exclusive cop culture to another level, dropping on the SNKRS app during Travis’ live performance as well as landing mainstream later that year in May, where it became the holy grail for sneaker purists across the globe.

2020 marked the release of the Jumpman brand’s first-ever collaboration with luxury powerhouse Dior. This one-of-kind sneaker seamlessly paired the court-inspired charm of the Jordan 1 with Kim Jones’s creative-led mastery and was limited to only 8,000 pairs available to the public via a raffle draw.
8. Air Jordan 1 High ‘Shadow’ (1985)

Nothing beats an OG colourway and the Air Jordan 1 Retro High ‘Shadow’ is certainly no exception. It’s rich titular shades of grey, coupled with its stealthy black underlays proved an instant hit with sneakerheads on and off the courts. After a 28-year hiatus, the colourway returned in 2013, staying true to its original tooling.
9. Fragment x Jordan 1 Retro High (2014)

In 2014, the Jordan Brand dipped its feet into the Japanese street-style market, teaming up with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fashion brand Fragment on a luxurious pair of the Jordan 1 Highs. This sought-after release, draped in royal blue, white and bold accents of black was complete with Fujiwara’s signature branding gilded onto the lateral heels.
10. Air Jordan 1 High ‘Black/White’ (1985)

Rocking its panda-esque charm since the mid-'80s, the Air Jordan 1 High ‘Black / White’ is a true staple amongst all your sneaker lovers out there. The gem returned in 2008 as a beloved member of the ‘Countdown Pack’ and then later retroed in 2014 and in 2023.
