Our Favourite Sneakers Celebrating their 20th Anniversary in 2023

We celebrate the 20th anniversary of some of the most sought-after sneakers in history

Before the tender age of sneaker raffles and long-awaited queues, there was 2003. A year that can arguably be cemented as one of the greatest in sneaker history ( and we’re just talking about the SB Dunks).

From high-heat collaborations to limited drops, we pay homage to some of our cult favourites that are celebrating 20 years in the sneaker scene.

1. Nike SB Dunk 'Paris'Nike SB Dunk 'Paris'

Forming as part of the eminent ‘City Pack’ Nike unveiled one of its rarest dunks to date - The Nike SB Dunk ‘Paris’. This coveted gem included the lively of French artist Bernard Buffet and was limited to 202 pairs.

2. Nike Ultraflight ‘White Midnight Navy’

Nike Ultraflight ‘White Midnight Navy’In 2003, inspired by Hyperflight's success, Aaron Cooper and Eric Avar introduced the Nike Zoom Ultraflight. This groundbreaking basketball shoe combined premium leather with a transparent shell, revealing its inner workings, a concept born during a visit to a New York City sporting goods store. It became a significant achievement in Nike Basketball history.

3. Nike Air Force 1 High x Stash

Limited to 1,000 pairs, the Stash x Nike Air Force 1 High was distributed across three cities: New York City, London, and Tokyo, with NYC and London receiving 250 pairs each and Tokyo having 500.

Notably, each city's release featured distinct characteristics, including unique coloured suitcase boxes and matching outsole graphics visible through the translucent sole. Adding to its intrigue, a limited run of 231 pairs was re-released in late 2007 as part of the Nike Air Force 1 25th Anniversary celebration.

4. adidas T-Mac 2 ‘All-Star Red’

German powerhouse adidas also rolled out the iconic T-MAC 2 in 2003. Featuring a more streamlined design than its predecessor, the low-top shoe quickly became a fan (and player) favorite. In fact, it is considered by some to be the best member of the adidas T-MAC series. The shoe featured a Torsion System for stability and an adiPrene+ forefoot that provided maximum control.

5. Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Heineken’

The ‘Heineken’ SB, inspired by the Dutch beer brand, became an underground sensation, despite its unofficial status within the Nike SB lineup. Legal altercations between Nike SB and Heineken forced an abrupt halt in production, preventing the wider release of this Dunk that became a fan favourite in 2003.

This eye-catching design boasts vivid green suede panels against a crisp white leather upper, accentuated by a striking black Swoosh. Hints of vibrant red can be spotted on the laces and heel tab, while a bold red star graces the lateral heel, adding an unmistakable touch.
