Nike Air Max 90 Illuminates in ‘Blue Lightning’

The Nike Air Max 90 is charging into its 35th anniversary year with a fresh bolt of nostalgia, introducing the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Blue Lightning’.

Nike Air Max 90 'Blue Lightning'

Introduction:

A brand-new General Release (GR) colorway that honors the silhouette’s 1990 legacy while adding a touch of modern-day flair. It's a celebration of past and present, wrapped in one of the most iconic designs from Tinker Hatfield’s legendary playbook.

Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 90 remains a permanent fixture on the endless span of Nike Air Max models. And while the Air Max 95 may be ruling the streets in 2025, the 90 proves it's far from finished.

Design Details:

This latest iteration features a striking mix of Platinum Tint, Blue Lightning, Wolf Grey, and Iron Grey, echoing the OG ‘Infrared’  blueprint while adding a modern twist. Think of it as a remix of classic, channelling the spirit of the ‘Laser Blue’ but replacing its crisp white leather with a more subdued, season-friendly grey palette.

Wolf Grey coats the mudguard, heel, and upper eyestays, offering a washed-out contrast that lets the Blue Lightning accents shine—literally. The signature Air Max branding, TPU eyelets, and the iconic cassette unit underfoot all get a vivid blue jolt that brings the retro vibe into full focus. It's bold. It's wearable. It’s ready for everything from crisp morning commutes to festival fits.

Release Info:

Set to drop soon at Nike.com and select retailers for $135, the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Blue Lightning' is a must-have for collectors and casual wearers alike. While official release details are still under wraps, one thing’s for sure: this pair brings electric energy to any rotation.
