At Crep, we’re always looking for ways to educate you about our product and one thing we always get asked about is our innovative Crep Protect Spray.

Your Ultimate Guide to our Crep Protect Spray

From its effectiveness to how long it lasts on your sneakers, we continue our How To series by getting down to the nit and gritty of all your frequently asked questions, so you can get the most out of your Crep Protect Spray.

But before we get stuck into the questions, let’s give you a recap on what our Crep Protect Spray is.

What is Crep Protect Spray?

Our Crep Protect Spray is the ultimate way to protect your sneakers. Fast-drying and breathable, our premium formula forms a hydrophobic barrier over your sneakers, to repel all types of liquids and stains.

Question 1: How does the Crep Protect Spray work?

Answer: Our Crep Protect Spray is formulated with nano-technology. Once the Spray has been applied to your sneakers, it creates a hydrophobic barrier that repels most liquids so they don’t infiltrate into your sneakers. They just float on the protective layer waiting for you to wipe them off (preferably with our Microfibre cloth).

Question 2: How long does the Spray protect your sneakers for?

Answer: If you wear your sneakers every day, our Crep Protect Spray will keep your sneakers protected for around 2-3 weeks before re-application.

Question 3: What is the best way to apply the Spray?

Answer: The best way to use our Crep Protect Spray is by shaking the spray well before applying as this will ensure that all the elements are mixed so that the repellant can begin to form inside the can so that you can the best of the product.

Once you have shaken the spray, hold the Crep Protect Spray from a 20cm distance, press down on the nozzle, and coat the sneaker in a continuous motion. Start from the laces and work your way towards the toe box and heel section. After you have applied one coat, let your sneakers dry for 10 minutes in direct sunlight or in a room temperature setting.

For best results, we recommend applying two coats of our Crep Protect Spray.

Question 4: Will my sneakers still be able to breathe after using the Spray?

Answer: The Spray doesn’t block the materials in any way, so yes; your sneakers are free to breathe.

Question 5: What materials does the Crep Protect Spray work on?

Answer: Our Crep Protect Spray works on a variety of materials including suede, vinyl, nylon, canvas, sheepskin, pigskin suede, and leather. As leather is already a waterproof material, the Spray effects on leather may be minimal.

Question 6: Why do my sneakers have a white residue on them after applying the Spray to my leather sneakers?

Answer: This white residue occurs due to oversaturation. If you spray too close to your leather sneakers, you may notice a white film on the surface. Leather isn’t a breathable material so the Spray may not penetrate into it causing the buildup.

If this happens, don’t worry this can be easily corrected! Let the layer dry (takes up to 10 mins) in a well-ventilated area and reapply a second layer. Once the sneaker is wet combine both layers together using our Microfibre cloth, and this will remove any marks.

Question 7: Where should I store my Crep Protect Spray?

Answer: Like most things that come in a can; a cool dry place away from any flames is fine. The only heat your Spray should be near is your kicks.

Question 8: How many sneakers does one spray can protect?

Answer: Our Spray protects up to 12 sneakers per can.

Question 9: Does the Crep Protect Spray expire?

Answer: The Spray has a 5 year shelf life when stored in a cool & dry place.

Question 10: What is the Spray can made out of?

Answer: Our Spray can is made out of 100% recyclable Aluminium.
