How To Clean adidas Sambas

How To Clean adidas Sambas

With tired suede, scuffed midsoles, and accidental liquid spills, we know keeping your adidas Sambas fresh in any season can be a full-time job – but with Crep Protect, it doesn’t have be.

Clean adidas samba vs a dirty one

Before you commit a serious suede crime by chucking your Sambas into the washing machine just for pure 'convenience', it’s actually doing more harm than good.

That’s why we’re here to cross the T’s and dot the I’s in Samba sneaker care, guiding you through the safest way to clean your adidas Sambas without damaging them.

Give Them The Cure They Need

The first step of turning your beaten Sambas into keepers is to invest in our Cure Travel Kit.

What is the Cure Travel Kit? You may ask, well, we reckon it’s the solution to your dirty samba issues.

Each Cure Travel kit contains a 100ml/3.50z cleaning solution, a premium cleaning brush, and a microfibre cloth, designed to remove the toughest dirt and stains.

The kit is perfect for a deep clean of your entire collection, plus it works wonders on suede when used correctly. We’ll show you how, using the adidas Samba ‘USA Denim’ as an example.

Step 1: Prep your dirty sambas and remove the laces before cleaning them. This is the best way to ensure that you can reach the nooks and crannies around the eyelets and eyestays of the sneakers.

Step 2: Save Your Sambas

Open your Cure Travel Kit and select the brush to dip into a bowl of warm water. When it comes to removing deep stains on your Sambas, using warm water is the best way to loosen them, making the cleaning process easier to tackle.

Then apply around 3-4 drops of Cure solution to the brush. As these Sambas are a mixture of denim and suede, which are highly porous fabrics, they are prone to damage if oversaturated. We recommend shaking off any excess water into the bowl to wring out some of the moisture before working the solution into the sneaker.

Once the brush is slightly damp, work the brush onto the sneakers in circular motions. The solution will foam up; this will be an indication that the solution is effectively removing dirt. Start with a gentle scrub on the uppers and work your way down to the midsole and outsoles. Use the Microfiber cloth in between scrubbing to remove excess dirt.

Cleaning The Laces:

To clean the laces of your Sambas, start by refreshing the bowl of water and adding a few drops (5-10) of Cure solution to the bowl. Drop your laces in the bowl and use the palm of your hands to wring out all the dirt. Dip the laces back into the water and repeat until all the dirt has been removed.

Once your Sambas have been Cure cleaned, allow them to dry overnight in a cool, well-ventilated room.

Step 3: Save Your Samba’s Suede

Now they are fully dried; it’s time to get the suede under control. Start with our Scuff Eraser to remove any marks, scuffs, and uneven patches on your suede.

How To Use The Crep Eraser:

Use the corner of the Eraser to gently rub the affected area of the suede in a continuous motion. Repeat the process for tough stains and scuffs until desired results are achieved.

For the best results, apply no more than medium pressure to your suede, as you don’t want to remove too many of the fibres, just the ones that appear dull in color.

Upbeat Your Samba Heat With Suede Reviver

Finish off by bringing your suede back to life with the Suede Reviver. Designed to restore and enhance suede and nubuck sneakers, it’s the best way to reset the suede nap of your adidas Sambas, making them feel brand new.

Applying the Suede Reviver to the adidas Sambas

Here’s how you do it:

1. Brush the suede with the built-in brush included

2. Spray the solution evenly on the affected area and allow the sneaker to rest for a minute

3. Rework the suede with the brush to reset the nap.

Top Tip: As suede includes two different brush types in one, we recommend that you use the softer bristles for finer suede and the harder bristles for tougher and coarser suede.

FAQs

Can you put adidas Sambas in the washing machine?

No. While it might seem like the quickest option, putting your adidas Sambas in the washing machine can do more harm than good. The combination of water, heat and spinning can damage suede, weaken adhesives, and affect the shape of your sneakers. Instead, clean them by hand using the Crep Protect Cure Travel Kit for a safer, more effective clean.

Can you clean suede Sambas with water?

Yes, but only in small amounts. When cleaning suede Sambas, it's important not to oversaturate the material. Use a slightly damp brush with a few drops of Crep Protect Cure solution to gently lift dirt and stains, then allow the sneakers to air dry naturally. Once dry, use the Crep Protect Eraser and Suede Reviver to restore the suede's texture and finish.

How often should you clean adidas Sambas?

It depends on how often you wear them, but giving your adidas Sambas a light clean every few weeks can help prevent dirt from building up. If you wear them daily or in wet or muddy conditions, you may need to clean them more frequently. Regular maintenance helps keep suede looking fresh and extends the life of your sneakers.

What's the best cleaner for adidas Sambas?

A dedicated sneaker cleaner is the safest choice. The Crep Protect Cure Travel Kit is designed to clean a range of materials, including suede, when used correctly. It includes a premium cleaning solution, brush, and microfibre cloth to help remove dirt and stains without compromising your Sambas.

How do you restore faded Samba suede?

Once your Sambas are clean and completely dry, use the Crep Protect Eraser to remove scuffs and dull patches from the suede. Then apply Crep Protect Suede Reviver using the built-in brush to restore the suede nap and revive the material's appearance. This helps bring faded suede back to life and leaves your Sambas looking refreshed.
